Recently I waxed poetic about the packaging, metal hang tab, and on-box QR code of OtterBox. Here is an upscale Griffin package sporting solid plastic Hang Tab as differentiation. So who is playing catch-up in the iDevice case wars? One commonality to fixturinbg is this display too is lightly stocked and employs Shams and Inventory Control Clips to maintain forward facing. Donut Merchandising by Scan Hook AuxNormally you might not display donut shapes via hook, but in this case it is a good choice styrofoam wreath forms. Set level on a shelf they would command little attention. A close look at the main photo upper left shows Back Tagging via self-adhesive labels on the Pegboard surface itself. We have certainly all seen Pegboard-mount Bars Merchandisers and Space Frames. But this is the first I have seen that flush mounts to the Pegboard itself. With minimal clearance it certainly completes the topmost level of the cascading bar tiers, which at lower levels are part Bar Merchandiser part Space Frame themselves. Primitive C-Channel Simplifies

Is this a cost- and material-saving simplification, or primitive step in the evolution of C-Channel label holders? It does seem elemental, deconstructionist and minimalist in configuration. But this Hinged Loop Hook Strip Merchandiser was discovered in Gift Card use at an advanced electronics and appliance retailer. Unlikely that it is left over from some early epoch in merchandising. Pets Welcome In Store Aux OverviewReally, if you own a pet store, you probably should allow pets in. Outside signage permits you to broadcast that you are a pet friendly location. And I agree, like a human child, you should never leave a pet in a closed hot car unattended. But please pet lovers have equal concern for the non-pet-owner. In a pet store, no human should complain about equal access by pets. In not-pet human stores, some shoppers prefer not to have pets walking the aisles and associated with the experience. Both sides of this market divide should respect the other. Service Animals? They outrank everyone and can go wherever they please. I don’t even think they need a Passport to leave the country, and get free drinks in bars and taverns.

J-Hook Endcap Fit-out

A Flatback butt-welded J-Hook for pegboard is the perfect solution for this Endcap application. Its flatback provides stability and protects the display surface. The short length minimizes intrusion into the traffic aisle while the J-Hook shape is self-guarding and provides maximum safety.  This is surely a case where the simplest, least-cost solution is the best solution.

Bottom Mount Straight Entry Sign Composit 1

Most 2-piece Straight-Entry fixtures include a removable plastic or formed flat-metal backplate. This variation on the Straight-Entry theme employs a wire backplate. Here it finds supplication as a Sign Holder arm for Pegboard. It found use as a freestanding sign holder (below) and facing-front point-of-purchase ad holder (above) with product behind. Frame Displayer with Wire Staging

These Slatwall Frame Displayers sport a conventional configuration in all respects except for the added wires on the Side Rails create Staging Areas for facing product. Note also that the staging area is broad allowing a single thick or multiple thin frames to be accommodated. Sadly, none of the staging areas were used to face the frames fully forward in any event. But at least it held them upright and organized.

Parent Advisory Adult Humor and Content AuxLife grows more sophisticated and complex with each passing generation. Now it becomes advisable to post Parental Warnings for mature content at the store entrance. I did see patrons I thought a bit young for the offerings at the far back of the store. But maybe it might be good that they see in public, and have greater opportunity to inquire and investigate than unsubstantiated locker room whispers. Dual C-Channel as Extrusion

Only rarely have I seen extruded C-channel so nicely and precisely done as this Dual Channel implementation. The professionally imprinted pricing is a quality job too. The twin channels offer the possibility of additional shelf edge promotion by the retailer, even a change in suggested price. So my hat goes off to the creative store staff who took Inventory Control Clips for Single Prong Display and Scan Hooks, and used on them on Safety Loop Scan Hooks. First time I have seen this. Back Labelled Anti Sweep Main

Vast stretches of Pegboard and Grid throughout this store were outfitted with Anti-Sweep Hooks. But I don’t think the purpose was anti-theft of craft items. I suggest that the front landing area of an Anti-Sweep Hook makes a perfect staging area for forwarding and facing product. The fact that this hook fit both 1″ Grid and Pegboard was a bonus. Metal Plates at the rear of the frontwire allowed for Back Labeling and Scan Codes. Look close and you will see that Rabbit Ear ICCs (Inventory Control Clips) are also employed. Very possibly these are employed in full-blown ICC-mode … that is they truly mark reorder points among the un-staged backstock. Often ICCs are also used to forward the merchandise.

To Round-Corner Or Not?

Micro Extruded Shelf Management Detail

Micro Extruded Shelf Management MainFor small items that nevertheless benefit from organization and containment, inexpensive extruded dividers accomplish the goal at low space- and dollar-cost. Often seen in HBA, extrusions do a good job here in Craft Supplies too. Do note that both square- and round-cornered dividers are in use. I suggest to you round-cornering projects a far better store image and reduces admittedly minor snags. So if a new vender comes in low-balling your divider bid, investigate if it is by elimination manufacturing steps. If round-cornering and image really don’t matter, go for the cheap offer. If you want to look just a bit better at only slight extra cost, round-corner it.
