Tester or Personal Size Offer

Is this merchandising of “personal size” items only, or does the center island offer “testers.” Central items were not clearly identified as samplers here, but I imagine they could be if desired. If it were me, I would try to make the tester stand out as such, if that is the desire.

Recently I waxed poetic about the packaging, metal hang tab, and on-box QR code of OtterBox. Here is an upscale Griffin package sporting solid plastic Hang Tab as differentiation. So who is playing catch-up in the iDevice case wars? One commonality to fixturinbg is this display too is lightly stocked and employs Shams and Inventory Control Clips to maintain forward facing. Pantone Emerald Color of the Year

Pantone Emerald Exclusively at Sephora Main

Signature colors plus a branded color-chit shape. Every “creative” intuits a Pantone color and branded item from a mile away. This year’s Emerald color in cosmetics is exclusively at Sephora. My interest other than the model’s luscious eyes, was the use of the Pantone Chit and consistent Emerald color as logo, theme and intense branding. All the more fascinating is that even though it changes by season and year, Pantone succeeds in staking a claim to the chit, color and display.

This point-of-purchase offer of Zodiac compacts drew me from quite a distance. Men’s love of gadgets and well crafted items surely my driving force. But I must guess that women would be equally drawn. The fact that they are Zodiac variations does not become apparent until you get close. An actualy high-quality sample of each Sign is on display for close inspection … Estee Lader powder just drops in. You can tell this is a high-end offering. Even the compact base, which could be standard across all, is engraved with the Estee Lauder and Zodia Sign name. CLICK through the gallery to see various views.

Could it be that this Brand is not as famous as the motivation derived from a highly visual “Try Me?” But such blatant promotion and trial might help make the Brand famous. My interest is in the fixturing not the Point-of-Purchase signage. These are One-piece Flatback Single Prong Slatwire Display Hooks. The large flat Baclplates improve stability, but surely also makes assembling and aligning the display more difficult. One wonders whether an Attached Back or other Straight Entry Hook might speed setup for these Flip Flops and other similar displays? Being an ignorant male, I am not sure if this is merchandising attention compeller, a template for cosmetic application, or what you look like after applying the Revival Mask. It was far too small to be an actual death mask from the procedure itself unless head shrinking is part of the process. Square-Hole Carded Merchandise

While the Display Hook for Slotwall has been profiled before, only now did I notice its carded merchandise was square-hole punched. I can’y certify that the square-hole better leveled the cards and organized the display. But close-up it was a distinctive touch … part hook and display integration feature, part back tag, part back label. Of course you might have to adapt the jigging if you need the frontwire level as here. The final result however is a visual upgrade and creates an unusual effect. Again a sloped Slatwall Display surface adds a touch of the unusual and helps differentiate a display. Standard Slatwall Backplates work, while a level frontwire links to a C-Channel Ladel Holder Plate. This is a case however where a very-short upward-angled Frontwire might word equally well and save on jigging cost for the level Frontwire.  CLICK on the gallery below for multiple images.

Triangle Braced Mop Hook Main

Mop and Boom Hooks (often classified as Double Arm Utility Hooks) come in a multitude of shapes and forms. This right triangle however is new Pegboard Hook geometry. With a long Hypotenuse lower brace, wire gauge and cost can be reduced. Hook-front stops and sidesaddle Label Holder Mount complete the deal. Bottom restraining hooks of a more conventional, yet nevertheless gated design, keep the item display orderly. CLICK through the gallery of photos below for all aspects. Maybe the solution to keeping your merchandise faced is permanently welded inventory control. Here a vertical wire productstop is welded midway along the hook front wire to keep  items froward. Part of what appears to be O-Cedar provided Point-of-Purchase fixtures, one assumes the stocking space is perfect for shipped in replenishment quantities. Swarovski Pinned Flatback Hook OverallJust a few weeks ago I admired Pin-Stopped Hooks at Henri Bendel. Now I recognize similar at Swarovski. None of these retailer’s other fixtures seem to overlap, so this Hookery, Sign and Display must be a point-of-purchase installation courtesy of the Charm maker. I applaud that the powdercoaut finish is tailored to each retail boutique. But given that they are both better name chains, maybe the signage could be personalized too? Prices are the same at both outlets.

This giant, decorated chocolate Easter Egg is both point-of-purchase attention-compeller and merchandise. The photo does not give a good impression of the true size, but look behind the egg to see standard size egg cartons to add a sense of scale. Brand and even nutritional information was not indicated, maybe because surely this much chocolate is not good for anyone’s health. CLICK the thumbnail for and alternate view.

D-Ring Shoelace Hanger

One way to add value and brand a commodity product; these ordinary shoelaces are made less ordinary by merchandising via D-ring hangers. Successful or not I cannot say. But creative and a step above the competition it is. Store fixturing is via Two-piece Straight Entry Scan Hooks for Slatwire and 1″ Grid that permit tighter placement of hooks in difficult small item planograms like this.

Aisle Branding Billboard AuxI wonder what fee is paid for this gondola-back-as-aisle-Billboard? Conventional wisdom is to maximize product density for maximum sales per square foot. But here the aisle run is broken with shelving removed for a half-height billboard. In a growingly Green consumer world, maybe the pitch is worth the price to highlight eco-friendly cleaners? Kids Cupcake Bell Jars on Sale

My  thread on Bell Jars demanded this tangentially related addition. And a great piece of point-of-purchase marketing it is. Who could resist buying a cute cupcake for a child waiting at home … or tugging excitedly at your arm. And individually packaged I’ll bet they command a premium. I think the idea so good it should have a more commanding spot at the store entrance.

From the colors, branding and permanent Back Tag shown in this closeup you know this freestanding floor display was top-notch and easily made its presence known in the retail environment.  But smart thinking went beyond the obvious surface branding. Straight-entry hooks of Attached Back design facilitate installation even though hook positioning is custom and spacious. And branded silver-grey plastic backplates combine with galvanized single prong frontwire and silver-grey display surface to provide a recessive background against which to display the colorful blue carded product. Functional and visual forward thinking on the part of the designer and brand manager. Even as a small supporting element, the hook fortifies the larger merchandising goal, as does the preprinted display Back Tag..
