Dual C-Channel as Extrusion

Only rarely have I seen extruded C-channel so nicely and precisely done as this Dual Channel implementation. The professionally imprinted pricing is a quality job too. The twin channels offer the possibility of additional shelf edge promotion by the retailer, even a change in suggested price. I wonder what the staff at this retailer know about Hook use that I do not, for this is a unique orientation for All-Wire, Single-prong Ball-End Display Hooks. Plastic Chain as Merchandiser

At first I thought this plastic chain was being used as a strip merchandiser.  But if you look closely you will see that  the chain hosts throw-away plastic strip merchandisers on either side. So the chain is an extender, allowing the strip merchandisers to be hung at an appropriate height with an S-hook main mount. Still, with the appropriate outfitting, why couldn’t plastic chain be a strip merchandiser? CLICK the thumbnail to see the informal mount.

Diagonal Dividers As Backstop

Fencing, Wire Shelf Management Dividers and brand specific Made-to-Order Wireframe systems have all been featured on Fixtures Close Up. These Diagonal Divider / Backstops are a horse of a different color. True they do divide and backstop product lanes. They also allow facings to overlap to increase product density while fostering shelf scanability. Note that there is only one anchor to shelf edge perforation, but extra support gained by butting the frames against the shelf rear.

This Strip Merchandiser Mount for Wire Productstop (and Grid) is a first-of-a-kind find. But in addition to gripping the Wire, it automatically creates its own Metal Plate Label Holder. I can see where a custom mount like this would be attractive if your entire store were outfitted with Wire shelf edges. Peek-A-Boo Pegboard Hook

A Two-Piece Straight-Entry Display Hook peeks through the rectangular porthole of a round-cornered, die cut foamcore backer. The backer itself is part point-of-purchase flourish, part sign / label holder, and part forwarding device for the inventory. Its bright colors and up-front position creates quite a silhouetted statement against the black pegboard. Clip-On Pegboard Straight-Entry

Speed Set 1-Pc Straight Entry Hook Main

No one can argue with the simplicity of installation on this One-Piece Clip-on Straight-Entry Hook. Just slide into the Pegboard Holes and drop down to grip the substrate. As with all straight entry hooks it maximizes use of space in tight displays and mounts directly beneath obstructions like overhead shelves. It also allows quick re-arranging and re-merchandising as conditions change. Bottom lugs help the hook resist being jostled from the board. So even though an extremely simple design, it does the job in the correct applications. These were seen in office supply at a FedEx site with Flip-front Label Holders. Hands-On Pen Promotion

If pen and paper don’t mean much to you in this iPad- and iPhone-based era, then no need for a hands-on trial. But if you have an appreciation for fine papers, Moleskine Journals, Behance Creative Outfitter, good vellum, and ink that glides you do want a test drive. This corrugated point-of-purchase display provides three choices and trial workstations. Even the paper stock was psuedo “watermarked” to drive home brand name. CLICK the thumbnail for an overview. Pegboard Rack Kickstand Built-in

A four gondola-height racks hinge from top Pegboard Mounts. Swing-down kickstands in the rear position and angle the racks outward. By changing the position of the rear kickstand, you change the slope of the rack face. Of course a rack like this could ship flat, yet add dimensionality to a display in-store. The profile of this extruded Label Holder would seem to suit the top wire of Fencing, Endless Basket or possibly even a Flip Front Label Holder. Here it is pressed into service as a Shelf Edge Label Holder. The visual effect was fairly good, but functionally having the Label Holder ride so high invites collisions as the merchandise is removed. Is this the United States Post Office increasing sales by partnering with OEM greeting card makers, or Hallmark accessorizing base model cards with desirable add-ons? It is a near-perfect alliance no matter who crafted the treaty. Do see the joint logo sponsorship. This idea has been around for a while but I do not see it continuously at my favorite card stores. And when I do, usually the greeting category is limited and quite focused. I do carry many cards home by hand to my wife. But if they all had stamps, I would delight in easily mailing and surprising her all the more with postman hand delivery. Particularly if the postman cute and male to brighten her day further. If the concept catches on however, could we please have a outbound mailbox at the store exit. There are so few on street corners these days.

Speed Set 1-Pc Straight Entry Hook Main

No one can argue with the simplicity of installation on this One-Piece Straight-Entry Hook. Just slide into the Pegboard Holes and drop down to grip the substrate. As with all Straight Entry hooks it maximizes use of space in tight displays and mounts directly beneath obstructions like overhead shelves. It also allows quick re-arranging and re-merchandising as conditions change. Bottom lugs help the hook resist being jostled from the board. So even though an extremely simple design, it does the job in the correct applications. These were seen in office supply at a FedEx site and were equipped with Flip-front Label Holders. When To Use a Permanent Hook

When would you NOT want your display hooks repositionable? Here a good looking display that seems sized only for the current merchandise. If so, the manufacturer has staked out his territory and hopes for continuous restocking by the retailer and Permanent exposure. Packaging is a vinyl slip case common across all items sans any expensive printed header card. A single design permanently solves all package needs. So there are several solutions worth studying here … permanent unchanging hookery and permanent one-slip-case-fits-all packaging. CLICK the thumbnail for a closeup view.

I see this style of straight-entry backplate used more and more for signage, dividers, and merchandising aids, far beyond their original use as a Hook Backplate. The style has become an industry standard with all major manufacturers offering interchangeable versions. One disadvantage is that different backplates are needed for different gauge wire. So whether hooking or accessorizing, warehousing just one size may not cover all your bases. That being said, this is an extremely creative use of a slender foamcore sign as category delineator. A sweeping helical arm is pre-hooked to merchandise woman’s portfolios and business bags. But is this hooked forward facing or backward? Does it matter that the C-Channel label holder faces away from the direction of the hook? This is back labeling in the extreme. But the rack achieves its purpose of calling attention to the bags in a stylish manner. First I need to see and like the bag. Second I’d check the price.

How do you best display and merchandise an thin item that lies flat? Best to list it up a bit to be seen and appreciated. These extruded Display Wedges do the trick for thin, flat keyboards. Magnets or magnetic tape on one side grip the steel shelves. Crack-and-peel adhesive strips on the hypotenuse-side stand ready to grip the keyboard back. Shock Absorber for Foamcore Sign

Given the bendable nature of Foamcore, how best to attach it as a sign to Gondola Upright? I don’t know the best way, but here is an interesting option. Metal plate is stamped and formed into a deep U-shape so that the Foamcore outriggers slip inside. Threaded fasteners finalize the attachment and spread vertical load as well as horizontal stress if bumped. Twin flanges left extended from the stamped metal plate become the upright stanchion mounts. But even more interesting are the stamped and formed “kickstands” that splay outward against the upright face as “shock absorbers” against more horizontal thrust. Between the flex of the Foamcore outrigger arms, and the springy metal shock absorber kickstands, this creation can soak up quite a deflection from passersby without cracking or bending failure.  CLICK the thumbnail for an alternate look.
