Fore-and-Aft Flanged Grid Hook

Backplate bottom tabs fore and aft of the grid wire make this Grid Hook unusual in construction. It was more difficult to remove than standard Grid Hooks. But this might be desirable in applications like unwieldy Utility and Broom Hooks, which was where it was found.

Triple-Wire, Dual-Role Loop Hook

Super Duty Bar Hook Main + Detail

Three frontwires of two different gauges, a welded rear cross pin, and rear bar grabs make this one of the most stalwart Bar Hook designs I have seen. The outer frontwires are in Loop configuration, creating a safely rounded nose. But the product dislayed is very light, and these Super-Duty Hooks outfit only the top bar at about waist height. Lower rows of hooks are  slightly more threatening heavy-duty Straight-Cut Single Prong Hooks. I suggest these rounded Super-Duty Hooks have a dual function keeping shoppers and playful kids a bit further from harm. They just might be an additional line of safety defense, as well as capable of heavier loads when needed. CLICK the gallery below for all views of this application.

Pie Birds? What are they? I gather that you place them in the center of a pie, and they allow the steam to escape during baking. No need to poke holes and slits through the top crust. CLICK the thumbnail for alternate view. The hooks these birds perch on are standard All Wire Single-Prong Display Hooks with Safety Ball-end Tips. Ball-end Tips are an easy no-extra-cost upgrade to straight-cut wire hooks at better manufacturers. So ask for the upgrade Your Pie Birds and other wares deserve it, as does the safety of your customers.

Triangle Braced Mop Hook Main

Mop and Boom Hooks (often classified as Double Arm Utility Hooks) come in a multitude of shapes and forms. This right triangle however is new Pegboard Hook geometry. With a long Hypotenuse lower brace, wire gauge and cost can be reduced. Hook-front stops and sidesaddle Label Holder Mount complete the deal. Maybe the solution to keeping your merchandise faced is permanently welded inventory control. Here a vertical wire productstop is welded midway along the hook front wire to keep  items froward. Part of what appears to be O-Cedar provided Point-of-Purchase fixtures, one assumes the stocking space is perfect for shipped in replenishment quantities. Towel and Bath Shapes AuxI praise the provision of these bath ensemble silhouettes. I am certain they help customers focus on the item and color that they need from a double aisle of choices. But it is my observation that women (particularly my wife) nevertheless delight in spreading the offerings out on the floor anyway. So while the silhouettes might not save your staff facing and organizing every night, they are an aid to women shoppers. Me? Two Accent and a Contour to go please in medium grey. IDEA: Why not hang the offerings permanently above the Gondolas. Though out of reach, they would be visible and might cut short and floor unfolding.

Space Frame Corrals Mops

Broom and Mop Space Frame Main

Mops are suspended via Heavy-Duty Loop Utility Hooks above, and corralled low with a simple space frame which also creates surface for item labeling and pricing. If it were me I would have mounted the space frame a notch or two higher on the gondola upright. But that is a subjective not objective choice. The frame is meant to keep mop handles contained and prevent accidental extension inrio the travel aisle. Mounting a notch or two higher would better insure that, even though these items seem well-behaved on their own. CLICK through the gallery below for more photo details.

Wire Ladder-Mount Broom Hook

A Ladder-mount, Pegboard-based superstructure provides the attachment surface for this Double Arm Utility Broom Hook, Oversize Grid-Hook-like grapples grip the ladder struts. Finishing touches include forward Ball Stops for product retension, and oversize Metal Plate Label Holders (unseen in main photo). A very intricate design. Overall the fixturing is a bit busy for my tastes. But the argument could be made that for necessities like this, customers will root through offerings to find their item, and maybe select other merchandise too. Flotilla of Shopping Cart Main Composite

This in-store dining venue knows its market well. The store attracts many young-marrieds for assemble-yourself contemporary furniture.  Good for the early budget.  Good furnishings for youngsters who will quickly outgrow. You can bet at some point the tag-along kids will get hungry in the store, and a $2.99 IKEA Kids Meal would be perfect. Of course higher-margin drinks and parents meals would round out the purchase with a profit. So every cart gets a Kid’s Meal flag. Note the “special” is an applied label, so offers can be changed quickly and easily. Pretty smart these Scandanavian retailers.

Grid Back for Metro Wire Shelf

The completely open construction of Metro Shelf is usually the look desired when it is selected. Here, however, perimeter units are equipped with 4 foot by 4 food Grid to close the back and provide vertical display space for cookware. The Grid itself does not resolve potential sight leak problems, but the perimeter placement and wall directly behind does. The Grid areas are only lightly stocked to avoid clutter. Fixtures are Flat Back Single Prong Display Hooks. The Easter-theme header sign is also something not often seen on Metro displays. CLICK thumbnail for close-up view.

Dish Cloths Divided

I might not think to start my store organization with Dish and Wash Cloths but it certainly is an improvement nonetheless. Imagine these stacks of cloths unmanaged, falling over, mixed and in disarray. Though difficult to put completely in any one category, I choose to call this an Endless Basket. Dual-Lane PrePack Magazine Case

Book Case Dual POP PrePack Main

I liked this massed display of Magazine Case PrePacks. The vivid orange color made a great visual statement. And creating a dual lane Magazine Case was brilliant. One just had to go see what was up. But there was more than one type of item for sale. With all Magazine Cases orange, one could only tell by rooting around a bit. Finally I must admit I cannot verify exactly how pre-packed these PrePacks were. If you look close you will see the Corrugated Display Hook is longer than the depth of the Magazine Case. So “some assembly required” might be the case. But if so, why add the hooks if the product could just sit in lanes in the case? CLICK the gallery below for additional views.

Rolling Pin Cross Sell in Frozen

An unconventional cross sell, pastry rolling pin and baking accessories on a Power Wing at the entrance to an aisle in Frozen. Not only was the Power Wing unusual, so was the Metal Plate All Wire Scan Hook. The frontwire uptilt made it a challenge to thread the Rolling Pin on and insert in the crowded display. The cross sell location was savvy merchandising for followup to sheet pastry, pie and other bakery mainstays. But the hookery employed could have been chosen better.

Rolling Pin Cashwrap Cross Sell

Though only inches long, these are fully functional Rolling Pins merchandised via acrylic bin. All the more curious is that they were not discovered in cookware, grocery or the baking aisle, but rather as a cross sell near the cashwrap in apparel retailing. Fixtures Close Up maintains and ongoing Rolling Pins. So this particular retail display could not be ignored, and if anything, added to display variety documented. CLICK the thumbnail for a better visualization of scale relative to surrounding items.

Thick Quilt as Sales Psychology?

Quilts 3D Sign Main

Does this thick 3D Quilt headline psychologically suggest thick, warm, snuggly quilts as cold weather solution? If you look closely each letter is 2-1/2 layers of already thick styrofoam depth. The Visual Merchandiser and Sign Maker must have agreed that thick-sign equates with thick-warm-quilt in the shoppers mind. If not, these letters could have been much thinner and less expensive.
