There was no good way to shoot this entire Umbrella display in the store.  All shots were either too near or too far and obscured. But compositing gives a hint at the effect. The overhead Umbrella canopy did call out from a distance while the rack beneath allowed detailed shopping. But it was still an imperfect solution, and shopping beneath the canopy felt cramped and threatening. Interesting that something hovering above could have a psychological impact. An overhead canopy smaller than giant Golf or Doorman’s Umbrella might have been more to scale, but would have then lost the billboard-from-a distance element. The only solution would seem to be a larger Umbrella Island, which the overhead unit did noy overhang above customers.
