Spreading the load and protecting the display surface from damage, these all-wire, wide-stance backplates offer an alternative to heavy duty flat backplates. The most significant difference is that here two top lugs engage the pegboard, while with a large flat backplate, three or four lugs engage.  One might also expect a cost difference, These however are much more decorative.
